Breadth 1 - Summer Assignment Straw Sculpture In this piece, the idea stemmed from cityscape and skyline. I wanted to create this type of small world feel by looking at the Different perspectives of it under different lighting. I used layers of different Grey, black, and white. I took the images from the perspective of the skyline.
Breadth 2 - Summer Assignment Toothpick Sculpture The cabins medium is toothpicks. I tried to create this overgrown effect that would look Like a realistic version of a small jungle or beach cabin. I used it to make shift an idea. I used dirt and chipped away at it.
Breadth 6 - Hands The hands are the first truly multimedia piece I have done this year. I used several elements that I was comfortable with last year. Encaustic, paper collage, and glaze. One finger is missing and honestly It was a mistake that it broke. Regardless, it is an great example of something once broken reforming and healing.
Breadth 5 - The skull I started off by wanting to create a sunset effect. I started looking up images of Arizona homes and art. It is what it reminded me of while putting all the color on the plate. I tried to place the colors far enough apart to be able to blend them thoroughly. Soon after I just began Adding small details and clean up.
Book Art - I really was hoping to combine natural elements along with geometric elements. I think my colors might have gotten out of hand but this is defiantly a multi media piece.
Breadth 3 - Wire Sculpture The scorpion is made from a thicker wire which was a mistake. The wire is interwoven but I used scrap metal to create a reflective ground work. I did this because I wanted to Show the braiding on the bottom of the scorpion.
Breadth 4 - Artful Teapot I will first describe the visual elements of the teapot. The piece has different ideas behind it. It has a square base and counter top lid that has a rounded body. For detail spiral handles were added and small square study decals were put around the base. When analyzing this piece it’s hard to analyze different colors, types, forms, shadows and textures. There is no unique color added yet but there are shadows beneath certain angles when you turn it. there is no unique color added yet but There are shadows beneath certain angles when you turn the tea pot. When interpreting this piece there seems to be some type of Asian influence.I used the Ming Dynasty as inspiration for this tea pot. The major judgment I see is that it’s not clean and sharp enough to emulate an actual piece. It is apparent that my skills need to be refined and that I still need to learn to smooth things out where it finishes and looks like one complete piece.
Marionette - This peice caught me off guard but it definitely was something new and enjoyable to create. The body is all built of paint, paper and glue. Even sections of the animal moves due to wire that is placed in its core.
